Mary Baker Eddy Library, a Christian Science challenge

"In the author's work, RETROSPECTION AND INTROSPECTION, may be found a biographical sketch, narrating experiences which led her, in the year 1866, to the discovery of the system that she denominated Christian Science.

Today, one century later, a unique project is under way in Boston, Massachusetts, at 200 Massachusetts Avenue, where a library has been constructed to house Mary Baker Eddy's works. This library, with a price tag of over $20 million dollars, is likely the largest library ever constructed to house the works of a single woman.

Still, the question must be asked, what is it intended to be?

A museum of the dead?
or
An open door to living more abundantly?

Which is it?

I believe there is a need to explore these questions that pose a great moral and spiritual paradox that the new Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity presents.

Does it represent a promotion of Mary Baker Eddy or a denial?

Does it expose the genius of Mary Baker Eddy or bury it?

Does the new Library serve humanity?

The idea of creating the library presents a great challenge for the entire Christian Science field, which becomes an impetus for scientific and spiritual development within Christian Science and for the whole of humanity on a scale unequalled in history.

What will be found in the future in the new Christian Science library?

How would one answer the questions today: Why are there five stars in the crown on the cover of every one of Mary Baker Eddy's books? Why does the textbook have sixteen chapters? Why are there sixteen steps in her rendering of the Lord's prayer? (S&H 16)

In the future these questions will be answered, and the answers will be profound.
